Wilson High School Auditorium – Reading, PA

Spire AVL worked with Wilson High School in Reading, PA to upgrade the stage rigging system and lighting system in their auditorium.

From early meetings between Wilson HS and Spire it was clear that no matter what style of automated rigging system was used, the system had to be expandable, offer safe operation, and had to be easy for various students to use. In addition, the antiquated dimming rack had to be replaced due to failing components. Spire chose the Sensor 3 Dimmer Rack by Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) to handle the dimming replacement, the ETC Ion 2000 for theatrical lighting control, and PathPort Touring nodes for network lighting control throughout the space. Additionally, an Interactive CueServer 2 was used to provide simple preset control by the main doorways and in the tech booth. For lighting fixtures, Wilson and Spire chose the ETC Source Four and the ETC Source Four PAR.

Spire chose the ETC Prodigy Rigging System because it offered a simple, yet intelligent control solution as well as an impressive cable management solution which was needed for the three over-stage electrics. Additionally, a general purpose scenery hoist was installed upstage to allow for use of various backdrops as necessary for Wilson’s many events and productions that take place in the performance center. The static rigging positions were also properly attached and a new video projection screen was installed.
